Term2.png Crowdsourcing
The act of outsourcing tasks that are normally performed by a company to a large group of external people or a community through an open call. This practice is based on the idea of using collective intelligence coming from the public to expand the company’s talent pool and to generate connections between the users and the company, especially with the view to gaining insights into the customers and their preferences. The term was coined in 2006 by Wired magazine author Jeff Howe and is a play on the word ‘outsourcing’. [1]
